Privacy Policy — Who’s On My WiFi: Scanner
Who’s On My WiFi: Scanner (com.olgor.whosconnected) · Effective 27 September 2026
This policy explains what information the Who’s On My WiFi: Scanner app (“the app”, “we”) does and does not collect, how it is used, and the choices you have. We built the app to keep the sensitive part — scanning your local network — entirely on your device.
1. The network scan stays on your device
The app’s core job is to list the devices connected to your Wi‑Fi. To do this it reads information from your local network only — device names, local IP addresses, MAC/hardware addresses, and your Wi‑Fi network name (SSID/BSSID). This information is processed on your device and is never uploaded to us or anyone else. We do not have a server that stores your device list or network details.
2. Information collected by the app
The app uses a small number of standard third‑party services. Through them, the following limited data may be collected:
Analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase)
- App activity / interactions — anonymous, aggregated usage events (for example: a scan was run, a screen was viewed) used to understand which features are used and to improve the app.
- Device and app identifiers — such as an app‑instance identifier and device model / OS version.
- Approximate location — a coarse region (e.g. country/city) derived automatically from your IP address. This is not GPS and is not precise.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
The app includes the Google AdMob SDK and may display ads. When ads are active, AdMob may collect and share with advertising partners:
- your advertising ID and device identifiers;
- approximate location derived from your IP address;
- ad interaction data (for example, that an ad was shown).
Premium (paid) users do not see ads. You can limit ad personalisation or reset your advertising ID at any time in your device’s Settings → Google → Ads.
Your public IP address
To show you your network’s public IP address on the connection card, the app makes a single request to a public IP‑echo service (api.ipify.org). This reveals your IP address to that service (as any internet request does) but sends no other information about you or your devices.
3. How we use this information
- to operate and improve the app and its features;
- to understand aggregate usage and diagnose problems;
- to display and measure advertising (when ads are active);
- to process and restore purchases.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not build advertising profiles from your local network scan.
4. Purchases
Premium features are sold through Google Play Billing. Your payment is processed by Google — we never receive or store your card or payment details. Google provides us only with a confirmation that a purchase occurred so we can unlock premium.
5. Sharing and third‑party services
We do not share the information above except with the service providers that make the app work, as described. Their handling of data is governed by their own privacy policies:
- Google (Analytics, AdMob, Google Play Billing) — policies.google.com/privacy
- Google AdMob / advertising partners — support.google.com/admob/answer/6128543
- ipify (public IP echo) — ipify.org
6. Data security & retention
Data transmitted to the services above is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS). The app has no user accounts or logins, and we do not maintain a personal profile of you. Analytics and advertising identifiers are pseudonymous and retained by the respective providers per their policies; you can reset them from your device settings.
7. Your choices & deletion requests
- Reset or opt out of your advertising ID via Settings → Google → Ads.
- Buy Premium to remove ads entirely.
- Revoke the location permission at any time in Android settings (this will limit Wi‑Fi scanning, as the OS requires it).
- Uninstalling the app removes all on‑device data it created.
- To ask questions or request deletion of any data associated with your device, email us (below) and we will act on it.
8. Children
The app is a general‑audience utility and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. International users
The services we use may process data in countries other than yours. Where applicable (e.g. GDPR/CCPA), our legal basis for the limited processing above is our legitimate interest in operating and improving the app and, for advertising, your consent where required.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new effective date.
